The Veterans Memorial honors all Stokes County Veterans that served in
one of the five branches of the armed services from World War I to
Present. It is located in King, North Carolina at Central Park between
the amphitheater and the newly constructed north parking lot off Kirby
Road.
The memorial is a five-sided structure with a reflecting pool and
fountains surrounded by a tile walkway consisting of pavers with the
veterans names listed thereon. The vertical surface on the memorial
individually recognizes all from Stokes County who made the ultimate
sacrifice for their country.
Any veteran can be recognized who has an honorable discharge from one
of the five branches of service (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or
Coast Guard) and who has served any period from World War I to present.
These pavers will have the emblem of the branch of service under which
the veteran served, name of the veteran, status, date served, and the
particular area and/or war served in.
Contact the City of King for more information and to download the
form for purchasing a paver.
